The series record
It depends on what you count. LSU leads on the field. Florida leads officially, because in June 2023 the NCAA vacated 37 LSU wins from 2012 to 2015, after lineman Vadal Alexander was ruled ineligible, and three of them were over Florida (2013, 2014 and 2015). Florida's losses in those games still count as losses.

No game in 2026
This is the first season since 1970 without a Florida-LSU game. The teams had met 55 seasons in a row, and from 1992 they were each other's permanent opponent from the other SEC division. Now the SEC plays nine conference games and gives every school three permanent opponents. Florida's are Georgia, Kentucky and South Carolina, so LSU comes around every other year: in Gainesville in 2027, then in Baton Rouge in 2029.
The last meeting was LSU 20-10 in Baton Rouge on Sept. 13, 2025.
The 2006-08 title runs
From 2006 to 2008, whoever won this game won the national title. No. 5 Florida beat No. 9 LSU 23-10 in Gainesville in 2006. No. 1 LSU beat No. 9 Florida 28-24 in Baton Rouge in 2007. Florida won 51-21 in Gainesville in 2008 and finished that season beating Oklahoma 24-14 for the championship.
Hurricanes, a shoe and a goal-line stand
- 1964: The threat of Hurricane Hilda pushed the game from Oct. 3 to Dec. 5. Florida won 20-6 in Baton Rouge over a No. 7 LSU team.
- 2016: Hurricane Matthew postponed the Oct. 8 game in Gainesville, and it was played Nov. 19 in Baton Rouge instead. Florida won 16-10 when Marcell Harris and Jordan Sherit stopped Derrius Guice at the goal line on the last play. The swap is why Florida hosted both the 2017 and 2018 games.
- 2020: The game had already moved from Oct. 17 to Dec. 12 after a COVID-19 outbreak in Florida's program. After a third-down stop, Florida's Marco Wilson threw LSU tight end Kole Taylor's shoe. The penalty kept the drive alive, Cade York kicked a 57-yard field goal with 23 seconds left, and LSU, a 23-point underdog, beat No. 6 Florida 37-34.
Biggest wins and longest runs
- Florida's biggest win is 58-3 in Baton Rouge in 1993.
- LSU's is 48-7 in Baton Rouge in 1971.
- Florida won nine straight from 1988 to 1996, two under Galen Hall and seven under Steve Spurrier. No. 14 LSU ended it by beating No. 1 Florida 28-21 in Baton Rouge in 1997.
- LSU's longest run is five, 2019 through 2023.
- Every meeting has been on one of the two campuses: 37 in Baton Rouge, 35 in Gainesville.
